The Anzac SPO Steams On in Teambuilding Program
The team at the Rockingham-based Anzac SPO proved their sea-worthiness during Australian Corporate Challenge’s Teambuilding Program this past November. The ‘crew’ of corporates boarded Bouvard Cruises’ Dancing Dolphin each day for a week, to embark upon a journey in team development through the Mandurah islands and canals.
The focus of each day was to build camaraderie among the participants, and to challenge their team abilities outside of the work environment. Groups were formed at the beginning of the day, and were presented with a variety of challenges for which a score was calculated. These challenges ranged from model boat building, to an island scavenger challenge, to photography, boat racing, and even karaoke! At the end of each day, teams were awarded with a final score incorporating all challenges, and medallions were presented to the winning team.
SPO staff proved that a little water never hurt anyone, as several participants enjoyed a laugh while attempting the inflatable rowboat activity to cross the stream. This was one of the many program highlights, along with watching SPO Director Chris Egglington sing his heart out in karaoke to Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.”
Watching each participant disembark the boat with a smile was perhaps the most rewarding aspect of the teambuilding program. It is opportunities like these that give organisations the ability to develop invaluable relationships among staff, helping to fuel a personal connection to their work life.
